Educational Planning:
Starting the Process |

STARTING THE PROCESS When beginning the process of developing your educational plan, you should ask yourself the following:
- What’s my academic program/major and what kind of degree am I pursuing?
- If you are undecided ask yourself - What academic programs/majors am I interested in?
- What exemptions do I have or credits earned from the SAT, ACT, AP, IB, or transfer credits?
- How much financial aid will I be receiving? How many classes can I afford to take?
- What courses am I taking this semester?
- What classes do I want to take next semester and subsequent semesters?
- How many credits will I take? Are they requirements for my major and/or electives?
- Do I meet the prerequisites for the courses I plan to take next semester? What
co requisites do I need?
- If I'm working, what's my work schedule going to
be like next semester?
- How long do I plan on staying at Montgomery College?
- What courses should I definitely take at MC before transferring?
- Should I check ARTSYS and consult with the school in which I plan to transfer to see what they suggest I should take at MC?
It is important to remember that you should not try to develop your Educational Plan by yourself. Remember to always consult your
counselor to make sure you are headed in the right direction and your plan is accurate. Collaboration is the key to developing a solid plan!
