A nationwide professional association with the primary purpose of developing, encouraging and serving as a resource for greater participation by African-Americans and other minorities in the accounting and finance professions. A standing committee of the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA). COSBAE's purpose is to promote the welfare of black agricultural economists by representing their interests and by engaging in activities which encourage their professional advancement. COSBAE represents Blacks in agricultural economics, reports on their status, and voices their concerns to the AAEA Board throughout the year and at the annual meetings.

COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN THE ECONOMICS PROFESSION (CSWEP) - http://www.cswep.org/
An arm of the American Economic Association, CSWEP represents women's points of view in the committee work of the American Economic Association, monitors the progress of women within the profession, and makes an annual report to the AEA on the status of women in economics. The Committee also hosts social events where women economists can meet and exchange information.

CRA-W seeks to increase the degree of success women experience and provide a forum for addressing problems that frequently fall disproportionately within women's domain.

Aids in building a diverse community of computer researchers and professionals. Currently, CDC is focused on increasing the participation of minorities in graduate computer science, computer engineering, and computational science programs. CDC's projects are focused on three areas: (1) recruitment of minority undergraduates to MS/Ph.D. programs, (2) retention of minority graduate students enrolled in MS/Ph.D. programs, and (3) transition of minority MS/Ph.D. graduates into academia and industry.

A national, non-profit organization that nurtures building of community by bridging science and technology with traditional Native values. Through its educational programs, AISES provides opportunities for American Indians and Native Alaskans to pursue studies in science, engineering, and technology arenas. MAES promotes excellence in engineering, science & math while cultivating the value of cultural diversity by motivating and mentoring students and professionals, assisting students in securing financial aid and employment opportunities, empowering students, parents, and professionals through educational MAES outreach programs, and stimulating successful partnerships with the community, government and industry to provide tomorrow's leaders.

NSBE's mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. The objectives of the organization are to stimulate and develop student interest in the various engineering disciplines, strive to increase the number of minority students studying engineering at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, encourage members to seek advanced degrees in engineering or related fields and to obtain professional engineering registrations, encourage and advise minority youth in their pursuit of an engineering career, promote public awareness of engineering and the opportunities for Blacks and other minorities in that profession, and function as a representative body on issues and developments that affect the careers of Black Engineers.

SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS (SWE) - http://societyofwomenengineers.swe.org
A non-profit educational service organization dedicated to making known the need for women engineers and encouraging young women to consider an engineering education. The organization's objectives are to: inform young women, their parents, counselors, and the public in general of the qualifications and achievements of women engineers and the opportunities open to them; assist women engineers in readying themselves for a return to active work after temporary retirement; serve as a center of information on women in engineering; and encourage women engineers to attain high levels of educational and professional achievement.

THE SOCIETY OF HISPANIC PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS (SHPE) - http://www.shpe.org
Founded in Los Angeles, California by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. SHIPE'S objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. The concept of networking was the key basis for the organization. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.

An organization that promotes and participates in activities that uphold the image and foster the welfare of Philippine Nurses in the United States. Philippine Nurses Association of America networks with organizations and agencies to develop and implement educational programs relevant to the nursing practice, education and research.

AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MICROBIOLOGY (ASM) - http://www.asm.org
The oldest and largest single life science membership located throughout the world. ASM represents 25 disciplines of microbiological specialization plus a division for microbiology educators. Microbiologists study microbes--bacteria, viruses, rickettsiae, myco-plasma, fungi, algae and protozoa--some of which cause diseases, but many of which contribute to the balance of nature or are otherwise beneficial. Microbiological research includes infectious diseases, recombinant DNA technology, alternative methods of energy production and waste recycling, new sources of food, new drug development, and the etiology of sexually transmitted diseases, among other areas. Microbiology is also concerned with environmental problems and industrial processes. The mission of the American Society for Microbiology is to promote the microbiological sciences and their applications for the common good.
