WID/Writing Center Workshops

Every semester, Writing in the Disciplines offers a series of workshops on a series of topics.   These workshops, generally not longer than one hour and co-sponsored by the three campus Writing and Reading Centers, have several purposes:

  1. Provide faculty with a forum for sharing techniques for integrating writing into our courses
  2. Offer support to faculty who are examining and re-thinking their own current teaching practices
  3. Provide opportunities for asking and answering questions pertaining to writing
  4. Provide teaching tools such as sample assignments, rubrics, best practices articles and other resources
  5. Create and support a community of faculty who are interested in making the best possible use of writing in their courses.

Registration is required.  Refreshments, collegiality and resources are par for the course.

WID Retreats

Writing in the Disciplines offers a series of extended workshops every semester.  These offer faculty an opportunity to acquire new information about methods of integrating writing into their courses.  More importantly, they provide the best environment for some hands-on work on existing assignments and syllabi.  Faculty are encouraged to bring course materials they wish to share and/or revise.

Registration is required.  Refreshments, collegiality and resources are part for the course.  PParticipants receive a certificate that acknowledges professional development credit.

See information flyer from a previous retreat.
