PT 209 Clinical Practicum II
Sample syllabus submitted by Professor Cepeda, Fall 2004
DESCRIPTION: This
course consists of 160 hours or six weeks of a full-time rotation at a
clinical affiliation site.
CLINICAL SITE:
TBA. The ACCE has the responsibility of selecting
the clinical site for the
student.
There may be a shortage of
sites in the immediate area;
Therefore students may
have to travel some distance from
their homes. The site
will, however, be in the
Metropolitan areas of
Maryland, Washington, Virginia and
Baltimore.
EVALUATION
OF CLINICAL
PERFORMANCE:
Students will be evaluated by their clinical instructor at the
facility to which they are assigned. The evaluation will be based on the
Physical Therapist Assistant Clinical Performance Instrument (CPI)
which each student will receive a copy of prior to attending their
affiliation. The evaluation tool and other instructions pertaining to
clinic performance will be discussed in the classroom. Also, students
must refer to the PTA Student Handbook for further guidance on
behavior in the clinic. The clinic grade will be calculated based on the
CPI, utilizing the composite of marks on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS).
Review your copy of the Instrument so that you are familiar with it.
