Jerry Watkins enters his first season as the head coach of Montgomery College women’s softball team. Watkins brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Knights team having over 31 years of experience as a baseball player, umpire and coach. Watkins has coached Softball for the past 5 years at all levels in little league and ASA Softball in Southern Maryland. He continues to play in the Ponce de Leon Adult League.

Throughout his coaching experince, Watkins has led his teams to receive honorary awards such as Regional Baseball Champions (2007) and Regional Girls Championship (2008). Some of his players have received prestigious awards such as Maryland State Runner Ups (2008), and ASA State Champions (2008).

As for the 2009 season outlook, Watkins plans to establish a program that attracts the best, contributes growth and nurtures his player’s talents to a competitive collegiate level.

Watkins graduated from the Art Insitiute of Atlanta. Born in Atlanta, GA, Watkins currently resides in Brandywine, MD with his wife and two kids.
