Jerry Watkins enters his second season as the head coach of Montgomery College women’s softball team. Watkins brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Knights team having over 31 years of experience as a baseball player, umpire and coach. Coach Watkins is a personal trainer and softball coach dedicated to the sport of softball and women's athletics. Coach Watkins is currently on the staff of ASA, the Vice President of Juniors Softball in Hughesville, MD, Striders Fastpitch Academy in Rockville, MD, operates a softball pitching training and equipment company, Ujball.

As for the 2010 season outlook, Watkins plans to establish a program that attracts the best, contributes growth and nurtures his player’s talents to a competitive collegiate level. Beginning after the last out of the 2009 Season, Coach Watkins began to build the program for the 2010 Season. Drawing on experience and contacts with area coaches, working with Montgomery County High Schools and Travel Ball Teams this past Summer, Coach Watkins has already drawn some of the best players Montgomery County has to offer. The Montgomery County Softball Player of the Year, All Gazette 1st and 2nd Team Players, and Top Travel Ball Team Players.

Coach Watkins grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area playing baseball and softball and currently resides in Brandywine, MD with his wife and two kids who are actively involved in the sport.
