Montgomery
College, located in Rockville, Maryland is one of the
finest two-year academic colleges on the East Coast. We
take pride in our outstanding student-athlete program. It
is our desire to maintain the rich tradition of excellence
both in the classroom and on the court. In
the last three seasons (since 1999) we have won the
Region XX Championship and advanced to the Final Four
at the National Tournament. Although we are cautiously
optimistic as the new season approaches, with another
great recruiting class and a lot of hard work we anticipate
another great season and should emerge as a top team
in the conference.
As
a testament to the quality student-athlete program
is the attendance at the following institutions of
higher learning: Adelphi University, Bowie State
University, Hampton University, Virginia Union University,
Virginia Wesleyan, University of Maryland, East Tennessee
State University, Howard University, Towson University,
Temple University, North Carolina A&T, West Virginia
Tech University.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Montgomery College matched the most victories in recent school
history with (20 wins), also recorded in the 2001/2002 season.
The team was led by sophomore All American, Rachel Dumont
who was surrounded with the most talented and skilled freshmen
class to ever arrive at Montgomery College. The team was
ranked as the number one team in the Maryland JUCO Conference
for the first time ever in January 2006 before dropping to
fourth place for the JUCO Tournament.
“Coach Gasque and I are very proud of this team
because they had every reason to give up on the season.
This season has been a testimony of overcoming tremendous
adversity during the season, said Coach Williams”.
In spite of two devastating season-ending injuries to All-American
Rachel Dumont and standout freshman, Melissa Weithman,
the Lady Knights continued to improve taking the court
with just six players, from mid January to the end of the
season. The team finished the season with a respectable
7 - 4 record. Each player was challenged to adapt to new
roles and to step up their performance by using their gifts
while playing together in the “team ball” system.
The team was successful and played with a lot of passion.
Coach Williams stated, “I don’t know of any
team, at any level, especially in the conference that would
have survived, let alone been successful playing without
their two standout players”. What made this season
special was the HEART and the PASSION that this team
competed with in every game. This is exactly what makes
this season
very special!
The regular season record was 18 wins and 6 losses and
the conference record was 10 wins and 4 losses. The home
record was 7 wins and 3 losses and the road record was
11 wins and 3 losses. The record after injuries to Rachel
and Melissa was 5 wins and 3 losses and the post season
record was 2 wins and 2 losses.
