Pedagogy & Podcasting (P&P)
Wikipedia defines pedagogy as "the correct use of teaching strategies" and podcasting as "a collection of digital media files which is distributed over the internet." Based on those brief definitions, this site will attempt to look at how some people are augmenting effective teaching strategies with digital media distributed over the Internet. These effective teaching strategies obviously vary from discipline to discipline, and even from faculty member to faculty member, so there is unfortunately no single technique that will ensure that podcasts can be used to further the pedagogical effectiveness of your teaching. Since there is no one right way to do this, the guide will explore a number of ways that people are using podcasts and podcasting to further their students' engagement and understanding of the material being presented.
This section of the guide presents possible solutions in two formats, videos and web sites. The video page is a collection of videos either created here at MC for this guide or links to other videos that seem to be particularly relevant to this discussion. The web site links provide information specifically about podcasting and pedagogy, or look at this discussion from a larger context of technology in general and its impact on pedagogy. There are also many articles published in secure digital libraries (such as the Association for Computing Machinery) but those are not linked here since they require a membership to access.
These links are meant to start a discussion - so let me know if there are more that I should include.
