Montgomery College currently offers an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Fire Science. Courses in the this program will help students understand current tactics used by fire officers for suppression of fires, as well as current theories of personnel management and leadership. Students will also learn how the fire service interacts with other agencies in the political arena, and will gain a general understanding of the functions of fire service personnel who are involved in fire investigation, fire code enforcement, and fire/rescue training. In addition, the large variety of courses and flexible class schedules allow students to complete the program within two years, or perhaps choose specialized individual classes to concentrate on specific areas of interest.
