Germantown
Options for Adult Learners (G.O.A.L.) Program
Germantown Options for Adult Learners, or the
G.O.A.L. program, focuses on increasing and enhancing
services for adult students at MC - Germantown. In coming
semesters, we would like to work with the adult learner
population to develop programs, events and services that
will make your experience at MC a better one – whether that
is because you become more involved or because the academic
and logistical processes are easier to navigate. Various
academic, social and informational programs will be hosted
for adult students; in addition, specialized support
services will be in place and following renovations in the
SA building, an adult student lounge will be open for
students to meet, study or just grab a cup of coffee or
relax before class.
Adult students are defined as individuals who
fit any of the following criteria:
-
Are over the age of 25
-
Graduated high school
four or more years ago but have never been to college
-
Started college but
never graduated and now want to return
-
Are veterans of the
armed services
-
Are married or have
dependents
This is the formal definition; however, we
believe that there are additional definitions of adult
learners and that some people who do not fit into the
category above may self-identify as adult learners (for
example, students who work full-time, or who have other
competing obligations that make attending college
financially or physically difficult).
