Educational Planning: What's Next

Now you have an idea of the direction you are heading, you can start developing your plan.

Write down the courses you are taking this semester, including the grade you hope to receive, whether or not it’s a degree requirement or elective, and how many credits it is. You can also put your total or cumulative credits at the bottom. For example:

Fall 2006

Course

Grade

Degree Requirement

Credits

EN 101

B

Elective

3

MA 100

A

Elective

3

MA 102

A

Elective

1

SP 108

C

Yes (Speech Foundation)

3

HE 100

B

11 Total

Follow the same process for next semester and subsequent semesters in order to plan which courses you anticipate taking each semester.

Alright, now that you have your current semester written down, you are going to need your curriculum or program sheet. You can use one of three resources.

  1. In the Montgomery College Catalog you can find the various programs offered by looking under the Table of Contents for the heading “Curricula"
  2. You can search for and print Advising Worksheets/Degree Audit Forms By Major

Note: If there is a difference between any of these resources, the online catalog is the resource to follow.
