One critical
piece of information I'd give a first year student:
Find a place on campus that you
can use as a base… a home away from home. This should be a
place for study and reflection. When you are there remember
it is your time. Keep outside distractions to a minimum.
My
favorite place at Montgomery College:
is the cafeteria and main hall in the Student Services Center.
It is full of light and life.
The
MC student service I think every student should
know about:
The
Counseling & Advising web site will take you almost anywhere you want to go. It is your
portal into MC and the college scene. It has a GPA
calculator, maps, course grids for all our majors (easier to
use), you name it. This is the MC www hub.
What
I like to do when I'm not a work:
Having a good meal with family
and friends that is full of laughter. I enjoy playing piano
with
the Sweet Thunder Jazz Trio and listening, reading and
talking about music. Joking around with my wife and
daughter. Visiting second hand book and record shops. Talking
about the
Beatles, politics, Syracuse basketball, and listening to
someone talk about a subject they feel passionate about.
