Homer S. Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education is a public-private joint venture providing state-of-the-art technical education and training opportunities for the community. The programs are a direct result of ongoing partnerships with local business and industry to identify and respond to the technical training needs of our community. Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education (GITE) opened in fall 1992 and is a state-of-the-art technical training facility offering instructional programs in four primary areas: Automotive Technology, Building and Construction Technology, Computer Publishing and Printing Management, and Workforce Technologies. The 55,000 square foot facility houses instructional laboratories, classrooms, a conference center and faculty offices. Gudelsky Institute is named for the noted philanthropist and area developer Homer S. Gudelsky. It was funded through a leadership contribution from the Homer and Martha Gudelsky Family Foundation and additional private contributions from many area businesses, individuals and foundations. Furthermore, the Montgomery County Government matched the contributions dollar for dollar. Program delivery options include short-term courses and workshops, certification preparation, customized contract training, semester long courses, certificate programs, continuing education courses and associate of applied science programs. Programs run day and evening, weekdays and weekends year around. Students considering entering or advancing in technical careers are encouraged to learn more about the Homer S. Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education and its instructional programs by contacting the Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education at (240) 567-7905.
