Text Box: Welcome to the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College

At the Germantown Campus of Montgomery College, where students are the center of our universe, we are truly in the business of changing lives. We are a unique, significant, dynamic, and challenging part of higher education, and we are committed to high academic and performance standards. Our faculty and staff are outstanding, and we have a truly caring college community.

Montgomery College provides a variety of educational and social programs and offers many honors programs and academic scholarships. Among the prestigious institutions to which our students transfer are Stanford University, Harvard University, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Smith College, the University System of Maryland, and Cornell University. Many of our students become doctors, lawyers, business executives, and teachers.

Montgomery College is Maryland’s oldest and largest community college, with three campuses, and the Germantown campus is the newest of the three. The Germantown campus opened its doors in the fall of 1978 and currently serves approximately 5,000 students, with more than 25% of its students coming from other countries. Even though a large number of our students take classes during the day, a growing number take evening classes opting to work during the day. Our students, whose average age is 26.5, have a choice of course work--transfer, career, certificate, or continuing education. Germantown continues to be responsive to the educational needs of a richly diverse population and workforce.

Montgomery College Germantown’s picturesque campus sits on a little over 200 acres of land in the upcounty area of Germantown. It is the fastest growing campus and the only one with space to expand significantly. Planning is currently underway at the campus to establish a world-class biotechnology program housed by a world-class facility.

Montgomery College offers a quality education at a low price and has earned a reputation as one of the best community colleges in the nation. Its academic and student support services are second to none in enhancing student persistence and success. Montgomery College Germantown’s well-maintained, aesthetically-attractive campus is truly the community’s college, and we make a special commitment to encourage community use of the facilities. The choices are many, and the possibilities are endless. We invite you to visit our campus and to let us help you shape your future.
