The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) offers a variety of certifications for individuals working in the health and fitness industry. The certified ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) is a professional qualified to work in a variety of health and fitness settings including commercial fitness, corporate wellness, community based health and fitness and hospital wellness programs. Montgomery College (MC) has partnered with ACSM through the University Connection program to help prepare students for this certification exam and to allow them to take the exam at a discounted price.
Requirements for taking the HFS Exam
An Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited college/university (one is eligible to sit for the exam if he/she is within 6 credits of graduation).

Possess Current Adult CPR certification that has a practical skills component (such as the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross)
