    Message from the Director

    Dear Prospective Student:

Thank you for your interest in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program. Contained within this website is information that you will need to apply to Montgomery College and start an assessment process which will enable you to enroll in the appropriate general education courses when the next semester begins. I urge you to obtain a current College Catalog and review the Admissions section, as it applies to the Health Sciences Curricula (further detailed in Appendix E).

Once you have a chance to review the information provided herein, attend a DMS Information Session. These sessions are held once a month and are an invaluable source of information. Please save your questions for the session; we have Faculty and Counselors available to discuss what it takes to be an eligible candidate for the program and what the expectations are once you are accepted into the DMS Program. You do not need an appointment to attend a session, however, you MUST attend at least one session prior to applying to the DMS Program.

Keep in mind that April 1st of each year is the deadline for applying to the Degree and Certificate Programs that begin with the Fall semester. Only students who already have a degree or certificate in an Allied Health Profession are eligible to apply for the Certificate Program; all other students may apply only to the Degree Program.

You may take the general education courses without being accepted into the program. It is recommended that you speak with a counselor on the Takoma Park Campus to plan your course of study. The Counseling Department telephone number is 240-567-5522.

I hope our website is helpful. Please review the DMS Admissions Procedures and the dates and times for the next scheduled DMS Information Session. Good Luck in you endeavors. We look forward to meeting you at an upcoming session.

    With Best Regards,
    Linda Zanin
