Review, Second Exam

The second exam will consist of four questions selected from the following:

1. What were the accomplishments that can be attributed to the Confederation Government? What failures also can be attributed to it?

2. What thesis was advanced by Charles A. Beard in his work, "An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States?" What facts and arguments did he advance to support that thesis?

3. What were the goals of Alexander Hamilton's Domestic and Foreign policy? How were each of his specific proposals designed to achieve those goals?

4. How true to his ideals was Thomas Jefferson in conducting both domestic and foreign policy during his two terms of office? Support your conclusion.

5. What causal factors should be considered in order to explain the US declaration of War upon Britain in 1812?

6. What "American nationalism" Cite five (5) examples, in the post-War of 1812 period, one from each of the following areas: (1) symbols, (2) art, (3) literature, (4) architecture, (5) economics.
