Final Project Description/Requirements

Technical Requirements:

v       Cover page containing:

Your name, course name, section #, assignment name

v       8-10 pages in length

v       Double-spaced

v       Times New Roman font, 12 point

v       1” margins top, bottom, and sides

 

Objective:

The goal of this assignment is to provide an opportunity for you to incorporate your learning experiences, both on site and in your research, in a final paper.  You should draw on a variety of sources, including the readings for your annotated bibliography, content related to events you attended as part of your internship, and information related to the educational mission of your internship site.

 

Guidelines:

v      Your paper will include four content sections (see the description below), each a minimum of two pages in length:

v      Sections 1 and 2 should be written in the 3rd person.  Sections 3 and 4 may include the first person voice or use of “I” as you reflect on your own experiences.   

v      Your paper may include descriptions of interviews and exchanges with mentors, colleagues and/or visitors to USHMM.

 

Content requirements:

  1. A description of the educational focus of your placement site and how it relates to the larger mission of USHMM.
  2. A consideration of readings that influenced your understanding of the Holocaust as well as your experience at USHMM.
  3. A description of key events that took place during your internship, including formal events hosted by USHMM, exhibit tours, or other important learning experiences.
  4. Reflections on your experience as an intern, including but not limited to consideration of these questions:  What was your understanding of the Holocaust when you began your internship?  How has your understanding changed as a result of your internship experience? What did you learn about how a museum functions as a result of your internship?  How much contact did you have with the public? How would you describe the experience of visitors who come to USHMM? How has this internship influenced your understanding of history, power relations, politics and/or social identity?
