RHS116. Assignment: "You be the Judge on Hammurabi's Code"

Although not the first law code, the Code of Hammurabi can lay claim to being the earliest comprehensive law code and hence an indice of civilization. Your assignment is to go to the following Web Site and follow two links from that Web Page. The first, "Solve some problems Hammurabi faced" calls upon you to resolve four disputes envisioned in that Code and compare your judgment to that contained in the actual code. You should then go to the link "See Hammurabi's Code" and read the prologue to the code. Then in you own words, state what the legitimacy of that code is, i.e., the justification for the code. Note: "in you own words." Do not quote from the text.
