2011-2012 STUDENT STUDY ABROAD/Study Travel SCHOLARSHIPS

Up to $1,000 for long-term or short-term study abroad.

The International Education and Study Abroad/Study Travel Program has been sending M.C. students abroad since the early 1990s. Students have gone to England, France, Germany, Scotland, Italy, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, India, and Turkey, to name a few. For long-term study abroad programs the College belongs to the College Consortium for International Study (CCIS), which is composed of approximately 130 colleges which have centers abroad. Both merit and need-based criteria will be considered by the Study Abroad/Study Travel selection committee to award applicants.

Students who meet these qualifications and requirements may apply for the 2011-2012 Student Study Abroad Scholarships (deadline is Friday, September 23, 2011):

  • Have a 2.5 G.P.A. for short-term or long-term study abroad.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Will have successfully completed a minimum of 12 Montgomery College credits by the beginning of the study abroad program.
  • Are able to demonstrate the maturity and flexibility necessary to meet cultural and academic challenges abroad.
  • Must be able to study abroad full time if a long-term program is chosen.
  • Must have graduated from high school within the last 10 years.  Exceptions may be granted on an individual basis.
  • Applicants are required to contact and hold a conference with the study abroad coordinator, Professor Malveaux (Greg.Malveaux@montgomerycollege.edu), prior to submitting an application, to be considered for a scholarship.
