Writing First

·        This program provides material for mastering rhetorical modes. It also provides supplemental material on basic grammar topics.

It is not comprehensive in its explanations. If you don't get the results you want, talk to a human!

 

To Use:

 

·        Go to the Welcome screen:

·        Click on:

Grammar button

Welcome menu

·    Click on  WF_button

·    Fill in something in each field. The program will not remember you tomorrow, no matter what you type.

·    Move between fields with tab. I type "q <tab> q <tab> q <ENTER>. If it asks in you want to establish a new record, click "yes."

·    Select a chapter by double-clicking.

·    There are thee types of material in Writing First.
·        The Diagnostic Test: Diagnostic button
·        Tutorials:   Tutorials button
·       Chapters:     Chapter button

 

                 

              

·    In each chapter, there are three kinds of material.

·    For each type of material, the sequence of sections is laid out across the top.

 Step 1

·    For each section, the specific instructions appear in the yellow block just below that

·    For each section, the actual example appears in the white area at the bottom. Supplemental tools will appear at the right. Step 3

  • When you’re done for the day, bring the score sheet by one of the staff tutors and we’ll initial it for you. This gives us the chance to offer to help if you had any difficulty, and confirms to your teacher that you were in the room.

 

This program does not have a lot of explanation available. If you get less than 80%,  talk to a human!
