ROSAT x-ray image.   The lower Cygnus loop is a bubble of hot gas about 60LY in diameter probably produced by a single supernova explosion.  The larger Cygnus superbubble is probably caused by multiple supernova and it is further away than the Cygnus loop and around 450LY in diameter.
