Energy levels for hydrogen
Although the orbits of the electrons move around the atomic
nucleus like the orbits of planets around our sun, it is convenient to
think of the levels arranged as a ladder with each rung at a height above
the ground proportional to its energy level. The following is the ladder
for hydrogen:
