Join us in the planetarium and outside the planetarium if it is
clear starting at 4:51AM until sunrise. You may want to bring
some coffee. We will view the lunar eclipse from inside the
planetarium over the internet via
a webcam where it is clear like we did on the March 3, 2007 lunar
eclipse that was more conveniently placed in time, early evening.
We will view it outside weather permiting.

After the lunar eclipse: 8 people showed up over the 2 1/2 hours I
was at the planetarum. It was mostly clear, but there were
some clouds. Both the Questar ( 3 1/2 inch) and the Meade 10 inch
LX-200 were used outside to look at the moon which was also visible
clearlly to the naked eye. The umbra shadow of the earth on the
moon was quite dark. There was no orange or red color to the
naked eye or the telescope. The http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/OH/Danjon.html
Danjon Lunar Eclipse Brightness scale was around L=0, from Takoma Park,
even when there were no clouds and it was perfectly clear near the moon.
