Star
Party Concurrent with White House Star Party
At 8PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 we will have
a Star Party Concurrent with the White House Star Party in the
planetarium with the Internet link on the Whitehouse.gov link. "In
the evening, the President and First Lady will host an event at
the White House for middle-school students to highlight the President's
commitment to science, engineering and math education as the foundation
of this nation's global technological and economic leadership and to
express his support for astronomy in particular- for its capacity to
promote a greater awareness of our place in the universe, expand human
knowledge, and inspire the next generation by showing them the beauty
and mysteries of the night sky."
Telescopes will be set up outside the planetarium
if it appears likely to be clear to look at Jupiter and it four
Galilean Satellites, Io on one side and Calisto, Ganymeade, and
Europa on the other side. At the moment Clear Sky Clock is
predicting that it will be clear.
