Area Description:
The Academic Initiatives area includes MC/MCPS partnership programs such as the College Institute, Gateway to College, Tech Prep Program, Summer Bridge, Discipline Specific Faculty-to-Faculty School-Based Intervention, PSAT to Inform Instruction, Prep Talk, PSAT Parent Information, and High School Academy Development programs. The College and the Public School system have a long-standing partnership that helps meet the educational needs of today's students. Looking towards the future, it is clear that a "baby boom echo" is building, creating national growth in the number of high school graduates. Meanwhile, accessibility to institutions of higher education is becoming more and more difficult. Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public Schools have made it a priority to work together regularly and effectively. By sharing resources and establishing goals, MC/MCPS has been changing the lives of students in Montgomery County. Boundaries between secondary and post secondary curricula and instructional objectives have started to dissolve into a continuum of effort and progress that serves students before all else. The College is committed to the success of this partnership.
