Elena Saenz

Biography:
Elena Saenz has worked at Montgomery College since 1990. She has served as director of Academic Initiatives since 2001. In this role, Ms. Saenz has administrative oversight for the Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public School Partnerships. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Saenz served in a variety of roles: administrator in the Office of the President; community relations coordinator for the Germantown Campus; college-wide coordinator of student recruitment; college-wide tech prep program coordinator; and health care careers grants coordinator at the Takoma Park Campus. She has also served as the chair of the Staff Senate and has twice been awarded the Staff Distinguished Service Award, an honor given to her by her peers. She is particularly proud of creating the Hispanic Student Academic Awards program which celebrates the academic achievements of Hispanic/Latino students at Montgomery College. Ms. Saenz holds a B.S. from Frostburg State University and an M.S. from the University of Maryland.
