Mission and Vision

 

Mission Statement:  

To provide quality instruction in the areas of Science, Engineering and Mathematics that leads to understanding and helps students develop competence in the emerging global economy.

Vision for the Future:

  • To become a national leader among two-year colleges in Science, Engineering and Mathematics instruction

  • To double the enrollment in Science, Engineering and Mathematics by 2015.

  • To establish a Center of Excellence for SEM Education for two-year colleges. 

Our New Science Center:  

Montgomery College is planning a new state of the art Science Center for the Rockville Campus that will provide science laboratories, classrooms, and office spaces for the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, Engineering and Geosciences Departments. Sized at over 140,000 gross square feet, this four level building will house fourteen biology labs, nine chemistry labs, six physics/physical science labs, and a variety of support spaces including computer labs, engineering shop, and classroom and recitation spaces. Planned in line with the principles of Project Kaleidoscope, the laboratories will have the capacity to accommodate current and future technologies, to facilitate demonstrative and experiential activities, and to encourage exploration in all aspects of science by enhancing student and faculty interaction.
