Making a Difference Begins With
You...So Start Today
The
primary
role of the office of Volunteerism and Service Learning is to recruit
and mobilize students to meet volunteer needs through community service.
The office provides consultation, support in and outside the classroom,
designs and creates both individual and group projects between non
profit agencies and students interested in participating in service
activities. The Office of Volunteerism and Service-Learning, in
partnership with
AmeriCorps, seeks out students that are willing to donate their time and
efforts to a range of issues that plague society; and address such
community defined needs through service-learning and volunteerism at
non-profit agencies. These needs include, but not limited to, poverty,
homelessness, abuse, literacy, and the
unfortunate children and elderly in society. Throughout the years,
non-profit agencies with the help of community colleges such as
Montgomery College, has had much success in addressing the issues that
impact society with the aid of caring students and residents. As we
continue to strengthen our involvements with the needs that go
un-addressed, we ask you to do the same.
"Seek
always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way
to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man.
For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are
here too."
