During the 2008 spring semester, Dr. Eugenia Robinson will have a sabbatical to write a book on a rock art site, La Casa de las Golondrinas (“The House of the Swallows”), on research she carried out in Guatemala in 2000-2003. Golondrinas is the best recorded and

studied rock art site in Mesoamerica and the sabbatical affords Robinson the opportunity to prepare a publication and contribute to an understanding of how the combination of archaeological data, scientific techniques of dating, materials analysis and ethnographic analogy contribute to understanding 3000 years of Mayan ritual practices.
