Dr. Eugenia Robinson
Associate Professor of Anthropology
Department Co-Chair

Dr. Robinson, Professor of Anthropology, integrates her specialty in archaeology with new opportunities for students and the community to work in the field.  She received her Ph.D. and MA degree in Anthropology from Tulane University and her undergraduate BA degree in Astronomy from Brown University.  At Montgomery College, she integrates expertise in the Middle Atlantic and Mesoamerica in her teaching of archaeology, physical and cultural anthropology.  She has participated in a grant from the Maryland Historic Trust and with collaborators has created a synthesis of the archaeology of Montgomery County.  Her specialty is Mesoamerican archaeology and she has pursued regional archaeological research in Honduras.  Her work in Guatemala began in 1989 with a Fulbright to survey in the Central Highlands, and she later excavated major sites in the Antigua Valley and its environs.  She has investigated rock art sites and most recently a prehistoric ritual site in Guatemala in collaboration with the faculty and students of San Carlos University, Guatemala. Her publications concern Kaqchikel Maya prehistory, settlement change, ceramic compositional analysis, rock art and iconography. Dr. Robinson started teaching at Montgomery College in 1993 and joined our department as a full time faculty member in 2000.  She received an Outstanding Faculty Service Award in 2007.
