Dr. Dorworth began her multifaceted career in the Criminal Justice System as a Parole and Probation Officer in Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood, Florida. After completing a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, she continued her career as an addictions counselor specializing in court ordered clients. She worked closely with the local police department in that capacity and was recruited to join the police department. After completing police academy training at the Bureau of Training at Eastern Kentucky University, she spent four years as a police officer before accepting a tenure track position at Marshall University. Dr. Dorworth joined the faculty at Montgomery College in 1986 when she came to Maryland for doctoral studies. She holds a Doctorate of Education from Virginia Tech. She is an member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and of the Community Advisory Board to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. In addition, she has served as department chair and unit coordinator as well as on numerous campus and college committees during her tenure. |
