Web Resources For Introductory Economics
1. Economics and Liberty
This website is provided by
Liberty Fund, Inc., a private, educational foundation. You can search here for an economist, or some economic concepts and you are very likely to find some valuable information.
One good place to search will be to go to the Encyclopedia link on the left navbar and search for an economist or a concept. You can try out the following links from this site
Simon Kuznets
John Maynard Keynes
Monopoly
You can listen to EconTalks (also under Article on the left
number) which is a collection of audios such as podcasts.
Interview with Nobel
Laureate Milton Friedman on Money
Interview with Robert Barro on Economic Growth
2. Biz/ed
This website also provides notes on both macro and micro related topics. In some cases there are slide presentation and activities or simulation exercises on these topics as well.
3. Economic History
If you are searching for some economic history topic, this is a good site to go to. For example, you can look into the "Encyclopedia" of this site for
The Great Depression in the U.S. or
Irish Famine.
The Statistical Abstract - The National Data Book
Tables:
If you need U.S. data on social, economic and political factors, you can go to this website. This site uses data from the
Census Bureau,
Bureau of Labor Statistics,
Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.
You can conveniently use the "search box" in the top right side of the page to look for any statistic that you may be interested in.
This glossary has definitions of a wide variety of economic terms. In many cases, there is a more detailed description following a brief description of the term. Each glossary term will also give any related diagrams (which I think students will find particularly
useful) and other related glossary items.
Economic Terms at Fed Reserve Website
This site contains a glossary of terms mostly used in monetary economics.
