1.  Why Study History?

"Not to know what happened before one was born is always to be a child." (Cicero)

History ProfessorsHistory interprets and analyzes the total life record of humankind and for this reason is interesting in and of itself. It has long been recognized as one of the core disciplines in the liberal arts. It draws together into a coherent whole a diversity of specialized courses in the social sciences and humanities and provided the student with the background needed to integrate the college experience. Whether you just take one or two courses or decide to major in this subject, the study of history helps the student link the past with the present, and so gain a greater insight into the human condition.
