The MC (Red Star) LEAD Program

LEAD Program APPLICATION

MC LEAD is a one year Cohort Student Leadership Program designed to enhance and foster strong leadership skills among students through dynamic workshops, engaging seminars and participation in service learning activities. This structured monthly Program is designed around the eight Cs of the Social Change Model. In addition to training and preparing students for leadership roles within their respective student organizations, the program promotes learning of leadership theories and its practical applications. The program commences with a trip during the Spring 2008 semester to witness a United Nation panel meeting in New York.

The MC Lead Program was developed using the Social Change Model of Leadership and acknowledges key principles behind this model that state the following:

  • All students are potential leaders
  • Service is a powerful vehicle for developing students' leadership skills
  • Leadership is a process rather than a position
  • Leadership is collaborative
  • Leadership should be value-based

As a designated program, MC Lead requires that students submit an application to be considered for participation in the program. Applicant eligibility for participating in the program includes:

  • a minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA)
  • leadership involvement in a registered student Organization
  • a monthly 5 hour commitment to the program seminar (additional commitment to program assignments and activities may be required)
  • a completed application

Interested students should contact Office of Student Life for more information.
