New Student Orientation (NSO)

What is NSO?

New Student Orientation is a half-day program designed to help new students get acclimated to the campus. Sessions include important information about financial aid, admissions & records, counseling & advising, the student code of conduct and more. New students also have the opportunity to meet other students, faculty, staff, and administrators and discover the many campus resources available to you through student-guided tours.

Why is NSO Important?

New Student Orientation provides essential information to help you navigate and get connected to Montgomery College.  NSO offers an “insider’s” introduction to Montgomery College prior to beginning your educational journey.  We have learned that when new students make these connections early on, they are more likely to experience a successful transition and enjoy their college experience.

When is NSO?

New Student Orientation will be held in the Theatre Arts Building (TA) on the Rockville Campus on the the following dates:

Session 1                      Wednesday, August 12, 2009                   1:00 PM
Session 2                      Tuesday, August 18, 2009                         6:00 PM
Session 3                      Friday, August 21, 2009                            10:00 AM

An Information and Resource Fair will be available beginning 30 minutes prior to each session. There will also be a Parent and Family Orientation during the breakout sessions. If you complete your pre- and post NSO evaluation, you will be eligible to enter into a drawing for an Ipod.
