Want to meet new people? Get away for a while? Travel to new places? Make a difference?
Join other Montgomery College students on a week or weekend packed with community service, meaningful reflections, and fun activities.
Alternative Breaks are week- and weekend-long service trips that help students learn about social issues through direct service, issue education, and reflection.
Alternative Breaks help students explore how they can make a difference in their local and broader communities in the issues that matter to them...and affect us all.
Past Alternative Breaks
Alternative Spring Weekend: Community Development, Philadelphia, PA, Rockville Campus
Alternative Summer Break: Animal & Environmental Welfare, Woodstock, NY, Rockville Campus
Alternative Spring Break: Disaster Relief, Biloxi, MS, Germantown Campus
Adopt-a-Breaker & The Alternative Breaks Engagement Scholarship
Though the Office of Student Life does offset some of the tranportation costs of Alternative Breaks, students share food, transportation, lodging, and activities fees. For some students, even $60 is a lot to pay to volunteer. Students with financial need can apply for an Engagement Scholarship, which is funded through the Adopt-a-Breaker Montgomery College Foundation Fund. Consider adopting an alternative breaker today.
