General Admissions Notes for MC Students 

Who is a Transfer Student? Generally, students who have earned 15 or more credits are considered to be transfer students.  Students are advised to complete college-level English and math prior to transfer, and have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA.  Some may be asked to submit high school transcripts and SAT scores.  

Placement Testing:  Transfer students who have completed a prerequisite course in mathematics and English composition may be exempt from Howard placement tests.

  • Can I transfer in mid-year? Yes
  • Is campus housing available?  Yes, on a space-available basis for transfer students.
  • Can I go to school part-time?  Yes
  • Can I continue to take classes at Montgomery College while going to Howard?  Yes, if you have not transferred the maximum of 60 credits, you may still be able to take courses at MC.  Once you begin at Howard, you need to get approval from a Howard adviser to come back and take classes at MC.
