Who is a Transfer Student?
Towson looks for a student with 30 credits completed on a transcript
at the time of application (excluding EL/RD courses). Students with less than 30 credits will be
asked to submit high school transcripts and SAT scores.
"Priority admission is reserved
for transfer students from a Maryland community college who have earned at
least 56 transferable credits, are in good academic standing, and have
maintained a GPA that meets the policies set by the Maryland Higher
Education Commission and University System of Maryland policies.
Students who have earned fewer than 56 transferable credits or who are
transferring from an institution other than a Maryland community college
will be admitted based upon combined cumulative GPA of transferable
credits and space availability."

STUDENTS
If you’re considering transferring to TU, you’ll be glad to know we
understand your unique needs. Admitted and enrolled Transfer are invited
to a special one-day, on-campus program called TU CARES (Towson
University Campus Advising and Registration for Entering Students) prior
to beginning at Towson where we provide you with everything you need to
make the Towson transition.
We are committed to helping transfer students adjust to Towson. We’ll
orient you to campus activities and clubs, social life, and academic
opportunities at Towson. The
Trans-AM (Transfer Advising and Mentoring) program helps you make
the most of your existing college credit and provides guidance for
completing your degree.
Placement Testing:
Transfer students who have completed a college-level mathematics and English composition
course are not required to take the
Towson placement tests.
International
Students- Students who have attended high school, college or university outside the United States must have a preliminary credentials evaluation.

Questions About Towson
- Can I transfer in mid-year?
Yes
- Will I get housing in a dorm on
campus? A limited
number of on-campus housing spaces are offered to transfer
students. Check with the Towson Department
of Housing and Residence Life for information. Also visit
Off
Campus Housing Services for information on
off-campus housing and commuter services.
- Can I attend evening classes
Towson? Some.
Most undergraduate classes are primarily offered during
the day.
- Can I go to school part-time?
Yes, but plan on taking mostly day classes.
- Can I continue to take classes at
Montgomery College while going to Towson? Yes, if you
have not transferred the maximum of 60 credits, you may still be
able to take courses at MC. Once you begin at Towson, you need
to get approval from a Towson adviser to come back and take classes at MC.
- Can I meet with an adviser at
Towson
to talk about my major? Contact the individual department
that interests you to speak with advisers. Use ARTSYS
