- Make an appointment to meet with an MC
counselor to discuss your
list.
(Is this one starting to sound familiar? Good!)
|
- Use the web to dig deeply into each school's home
page, paying particular
attention to Transfer Admissions information - this is usually separate from
Freshman Admissions info.
|
- TALK to people about the schools you're
considering - get opinions from friends, relatives, counselors,
professors, local employers, and people who have jobs in the field
that interests you. Don't let one opinion change your whole
view, but gather ideas from many different people.
|
- Attend Montgomery
College's Transfer Information Days each semester on campus, where
representatives from schools can answer admissions and program questions. Have
at least three schools chosen that you'd like to explore more in depth.
|
- Visit the colleges/universities that interest you. Take a tour. Go
to scheduled Open Houses and Information Sessions.
Visiting a college means more than just going to hang out
with a friend in a dorm on a weekend - if you're going to spend
the next two years and thousands of dollars at your transfer
school, you need to learn everything you can about it before you
make the big commitment. Here are some great sites offering
tips on how to make the most of a college visit:
Use "virtual tours" on the web to supplement your
visit and help you remember what you saw after you return from an
in-person tour. Some schools have them on their websites,
for others, check out www.campustours.com/
and www.ecampustours.com
.
