In general, most four-year institutions want community college students to fulfill general education requirements and take music theory courses at the freshman & sophomore level.   Check early with the ARTSYS Recommended Transfer Program page for a list of MC courses that will transfer to Maryland public & private colleges and universities for this major.  For out-of-state institutions, refer to each school's catalog/website for information on course selection.

Music Education is a separate major at most schools.  Courses often include General Psychology in addition to music theory.  Each institution has specific requirements for Education programs, including higher GPA's and additional testing for admission into the Education program.  Check both ARTSYS and individual school catalogs for specific education requirements.
