Counseling
faculty assist students with academic, personal, and career concerns.
The primary emphasis is on supporting students to achieve their educational
goals. Counselors may also refer students to local
community counseling resources which can provide further support.
In addition to meeting individually with a counselor, additional on-campus resources are available:
- Active Minds -- a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy organization.
Rockville Counseling is excited to work collaboratively with the Active Minds chapter in educating students, faculty and staff about mental health issues. The group aims to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental illness and create an open environment for discussion of mental health issues.
Meetings are held on the Rockville Counseling in the Counseling Building, Room CB119.
- Hospice Caring, Inc. -- Since 1989, Hospice Caring's trained and dedicated volunteers provide practical and emotional support to terminally ill adults and children and their families, and to anyone grieving the death of a loved one.
Hospice Caring is now offering bereavement services to Montgomery College students at no charge. For more information, call Toby Rabbin at 301-990-0854 or e-mail: hospice@hospicecaring.org.
