Montgomery College is dedicated to creating partnerships with four-year colleges and universities. One important way of doing this is by forming articulation agreements. An articulation agreement is an officially approved agreement that matches coursework between schools. Agreements are designed to help students make a smooth transition when transferring from Montgomery College to a four-year institution. Some agreements state that four-year schools will accept an entire MC degree without question. For example, the AA in Business will be accepted in its entirety by UMUC and Johns Hopkins School of Business & Professional Education. Other agreements outline specific courses to take at MC as a students plans for transfer. For many years, articulation agreements were developed, announced, known to some departments and advisers, but sometimes filed away in a drawer. The Articulation Drawer is officially flung open now, and we hope you'll see how useful some of these agreements can be. The New Drawer consists of this website - www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/studev/articulations.htm . You can find it other times as a link on the MC Transfer Page. Articulation Agreements with Schools outside of ARTSYS This chart shows most of the articulation agreements that currently exist with other schools not currently in the ARTSYS system. Some agreements are tied to specific majors, while others refer to the general acceptance of Montgomery College credits.

SMITH BUSINESS ADVISING Update Although the Robert H. Smith School of Business is only one of many schools of business, a number of Montgomery College students want to consider it as an option. Because of recent changes, advising students who plan to transfer to the Smith School of Business requires careful attention. Montgomery College has an advising sheet outlining rules for admission to the Robert H. Smith School of Business, UMCP and Shady Grove campuses, on the MC Transfer Page (www.montgomerycollege.edu/transfer/ ). Here's an updated MC Advising for Smith Page: www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/studev/smith.htm Two new footnotes regarding CA, BA, and MG courses have been added to the page:
Applying to UMCP - Business Students are sometimes confused about HOW to file an application for Smith. The General Application for admission is the one form to submit. UMCP recommends submitting the on-line application over the paper form. www.uga.umd.edu/apply/ Designate "Business" (or one of the related BMGT majors) as the major desired. There is NOT a separate application for the School of Business. Students are usually admitted first to the University as a Letters and Sciences student ("undecided") and then their application is reviewed for qualifications for Smith. If students are meeting the final Gateway course requirements or the 45-credit requirement during the semester that they apply, then their application will be reviewed for Smith qualifications at the end of the semester. Students usually need to submit TWO transcripts - one showing current grades & credits, and one at the end of the semester showing completion of the current semester's courses. Students who want to apply to Smith-Shady Grove need to fill out a separate application. Those who are applying to both Shady Grove AND College Park do not need to submit two application fees - just indicate on the Shady Grove application that you are also applying to College Park.
