Question:  Where do Montgomery College students transfer?    
Answer:  Anywhere they want!

While the majority of Montgomery College students transfer to Maryland state public colleges and universities (3,080 in 2006), a significant number of students also transfer to private schools in Maryland and to schools across the nation.  MC’s Office of Institutional Research (OIRA) uses National Student Loan Clearinghouse data to show that students who completed 12 or more credits at Montgomery College in the Fiscal Year 2005 were reported as enrolled at the following  institutions in FY 2006:

  • 3,080 MC students transferred to 11 Maryland state public four-year institutions

  • 216 MC students transferred to 14 private (independent) four-year institutions in Maryland

  • 1,134 MC students transferred to 338 four-year institutions outside of Maryland (43 states and the District of Columbia)
