Transfer Planning

TRANSFER PLANNING UNIT is now an On-Line Module that you can assign to your class.  This has been tested in several classes and works VERY well.  Rather than have students hear a presentation, you can assign them the On-Line Transfer Unit to complete on their own IN PLACE of coming to class one week.  The unit is self-contained and easy to understand.

Students can e-mail the finished work to you, or you can them print out their work & turn it in.  There are several  benefits BESIDES learning Transfer:

1)  Students get a mini-feel for what an on-line class might be like - they are responsible for checking in & completing it entirely on their own
2)  Students put a lot more thought into completing a college search/using ARTSYS/etc.
2) YOU choose the date that you want to assign it.

The Education Plan

Some DS 107 instructors require that students visit a counselor or adviser to complete the Education Plan.  If you intend to do this, be sure to check with a Counseling Department Chair to discuss the mechanics of these visits.  Keep in mind that students may wait until the last moment to finish this assignment, so create a deadline that is in advance of "peak registration" - suggest Nov. 15 for Fall, and April 15 for Spring.
