Week #7 Decision Making & Resume Writing


Introduction

You have spent 6 weeks and all the weeks/months/years before thinking about what college major and career best suits.  It is important to keep in mind that this decision will probably not be your last career decision, but it may be your first.  As you have explored all the career possibilities, you might have come to realize that there are many careers that will be satisfying.  Your challenge is simply to pick the major/career you will do next.  This week you will learn about your decision making style, set a preliminary career goal and write a resume.

 


Objectives

Students will:

  • Describe and explore your decision-making process
  • Apply the principles of decision making to your career search
  • List the advantages of developing a resume
  • Identify guidelines for resume preparation
  • Write a resume and cover letter

Read It - Websites & Course Materials - Monday

Do It - Career Self Assessments - Tuesday
Get started on your final Portfolio Project.  It is due by Wednesday of next week.  This assignment cannot be turned in late.


Write It - Discussion Board - Wednesday
Tell everyone what college major you would select if you had to make a choice today List a few things that makes this a good fit for you and a few things that you are a bit concerned about. Respond and support each other in this preliminary decision.
