MyMC Assignment

2005 Art Stars Awards	for my daily dose of pop culture, which can also provide me with a good subject for a paper, the change of culture through the years. (That's if that paper comes up...however, I still like to check in on things like this, because I'm an aspiring director, and I do love to do art.)
Academic Calendar	The academic calendar is probably the most important channel I added because its got the important dates I need for the entire semester, telling me when the school is closed, semester starts, exams days etc.
arts	i really enjoy art and it would be a nice thing to look at when i am on my mc.
BBC News	because it will keep me informed and possibly give me good things to discuss in my Sociology or Psychology courses.
Bookstore	I found that the bookstore is more or less a school store with a lot of resources and supplies aside from books and I know I will be in an out of there for more than just books so this channel allows me to see hours as well as what’s going on at the bookstore.
Car Connection	looks like a good source for me that might help at work. I also enjoy the material presented here like car reviews and auto news.
Career Planning and Job Search Software (2)	I need to eventually figure out where I’m heading and this might help. Career Planning- This will help my college success by helping me figure out which specific career in my major would be right for me. I can then take appropriate cources that will help me with my career choice.
College Life - Germantown
Consumer Affairs New and Alerts	it is interesting and could provide valuable information.
CNN Top Stories (4)	feeling that it's important to keep abreast on current affairs. This can be invaluable in many classes, in discussions, and researching papers This will prove that I have a social life.. and that I really care about the world I live in. Knowing the tope stories during the week will help me to understand more about what's going on. A college student shouldnt just focus purely on academics. By seeing whats in the news I can develop my own views on big issues. This will expand my knowledge and perhaps will come in handy in one of my classes. Example: Learning about immigration helped me in my Economics class.
Database of the Month (2)	I think this might let me see databases I might not otherwise run across. This channel will come in handy when I am doing research for one of my classes. It will tell me which database in the library has really good resources. This months database is MC Central Search. It is a great resource because it can search through several databases at a time, which will save me time.
day in history	history to me is very interesting. My teachers always taught me to know the past so it won't happen again. I love history and when i do take classes it may come in handy knowing that little extra information.
Event Calendar	because it will give me an opportunity to go to different events and interface with other students. VERY important, as I am doing all online courses this semester and I am a sociable person. =)
Financial Aid	This will help me to remember to check my financial aid regularly so i know of any problems or concerns.
Germantown Campus (2)	Majority of my classes are on the Germantown Campus and if I need anything from or for the school Germantown is where I would go, so knowing the different things going on will let me keep update on the campus events. This will basically just get me into the feel of being in college! Like I said before, Its all new.. but many of these online tips are useful!
Germantown Hot Topics	Reading about the Germantown campus can show me important events or information that I could need for one of my classes. For instance, last semester there were different biology meetings at the Germantown campus and my teacher gave out bonus points for going.
horoscopes	thought that having that maybe it would give me more motivation to get online more often. i believe those are important. it tells you how your day is shaped to go and gives you a heads up on the way it might go down.
iTunes top 10 songs
joke of the day	gives me something to chuckle at if i am feeling frustrated or overwhelmed
Learning Centers (2)	I've only stopped by the Writing Center thus far. It alone seems to be an amazing resource. I can only assume the others will be also. That's why I wanted to add that to "My Stuff". This channel will help me out when I need extra help studying or if I have questions. I can see what is going on at each of the learning centers and what extra materials they have that would benefit me while I am doing my homework.
Libary person's search	having interesting words which for reading class i have to have a new word that i never knew before. Also I have something to read in my spare time.
Library quick links	because I will need to do research from time to time, especially in my Sociology course.
MC news	so that i can have a heads up about what's going on. I can be aware on what's happening with my school. I think that is very important to know what is going on with and in your school.
Mideast Conflict	provide me information on many different politics and and debatable subjects that will serve me well for papers.
My Calendar	so I can get more organized and have reminders every time I log in.

NY Time Book Reviews (2)	My father always said, "a well read person is a well rounded person". A well rounded person should do well in college and life. Lucky for me I love to read. A little advice on what to read is always helpful, but never what I entirely base my choices on.
New York Times Week In Review	provide me information on many different politics and and debatable subjects that will serve me well for papers.
My Courses (3)	so I can keep an eye on how I'm doing in a more convenient manner. This channel is nice because its got a list of all my current courses and where and when they are, as well as a lot of information of basic academic things going on. Here I can find out information on the library to career and transferring information.
pop culture	doesn't really help with anything only feeds my need for gossip
quote of the day	gives me something to think about during the day. a bit of strength to start of your morning
Recipes (2)	are always useful but not for school for my diet. lol. This will hopefully help me to eat healthier. Seeing a simple recipe should make me jump for action! I am excited about eating healthier and cant wait to try new recipes.

Semester Calendar	so that I can be aware of what's going on with the college, and as time moves on, deadlines for graduation, etc.
Web Links of the Month	I like exposure to different things. Keeping a channel like this will help make sure I see variety.
Where I Do I Find?	This is has to be the most useful channel I’ve found yet. Its basically and FAQ section that will inevitably come in handy through out the entire semester.
Word of the Day (2)	expanding my vocabulary will benefit me again whenever I'm required to write, especially with on-line courses This will help me to stay motivated when i log on. Seeing a work of the day will also help to broaden my vocabulary. It will be fun to see how many times a day i can use the word!

General Comments	I might add something fun later, but for now I think this is good. I found some channels to still be empty. For example a Library channel called "Did you Know?" still only said "Did you know?" when added to Mystuff. Were they asking me? Now we come to the fluff. I think it's important to take a break during your busy day. Especially when you are feeling stressed out. Because of this I added channels with movie, music, and DVD reviews. It's important to find balance in our day. That's something in my life I'm still working on. It took a while to figure out how to customize My MC. I started to delete certain channels from some tabs thinking I might not ever use some of the information but later decided to leave it alone in case it comes in handy. These are all the channels that i decided to choose for "my stuff" tab.. i think that they will come in handy and it will be nice to have alternative information. I believe these five channels will help me succeed as a student not only for entertainment purposes, but to keep connected with what is going on outside of school. Such as the news channels I've added will help me stay connected with the latest breaking news. However on the other hand I have iTunes available for my entertainment use. All of these channels I have added will contribute to my success as a student. so mostly this stuff is just for my enjoyment. I never even knew these channels were on MyMC! It’s a great thing to have instant access to! Anyways, here are my 5 top channels. Thanks for helping me through MyMC once again!
