COLLEGE TRANSFER RESOURCES

According to a recent Montgomery College survey, more than 80% of MC students transfer to colleges or universities to complete their bachelor's degree. The Career/Transfer Center can help students research and decide what institutions and majors are their best choice by providing the following resources:

  • Transfer planning workshops and Transfer Days - College and university representatives regularly visit MC to discuss the educational opportunities at their institutions. Transfer sessions are held throughout the fall and spring semesters. Students learn about the process of transferring to another institution.
  • Individual transfer advising helps students identify colleges and universities, manage the application process and research scholarship and other funding sources.
  • On-line resources - the Career/Transfer Center has 10 computers:
    • Gather information on majors - research many MC majors and learn about career opportunities, educational requirements and employment trends.
    • Use the New Maryland Transfer Web Site at http://mdtransfer.usmd.edu/
    • Visit ARTSYS (Maryland University Articulation System) at http://artweb.usmd.edu/ - enter your MC coursework to determine what requirements you've met for most Maryland public and private institution. It also helps you map out remaining MC coursework.
    • Internet Transfer Resources, including access to COLLEGESOURCE (link available in the Career/Transfer Centers) - easy to use tools that help you identify potential colleges and universities by major, location, cost, and other criteria.
    • Visit the Collegewide MC Transfer Information Page for additional transfer resources.

Creating a career that is both satisfying and successful takes planning and action. By taking advantage of the many resources at the Career/Transfer Center throughout your years at Montgomery College, you can more effectively and efficiently achieve your professional goals. Visit the Career/Transfer Center often - you'll be glad you did!
