The
International Buddy Program was created as an
additional resource for international students. An
international student can be defined as a student
holding any type of visa. It is intended to provide
a working relationship between current international
students studying at Montgomery College and past
students who have either graduated or transferred
from Montgomery College.
The process of
adjustment to a new community may be difficult,
especially if there are language and cultural
differences. Therefore, the goal of the
International Buddy Program is to help students
adjust to the social, academic and cultural
environment at Montgomery College, Takoma
Park/Silver Spring. The primary mode of
communication between the mentor and mentee is
email, unless otherwise agreed upon by both parties.
If you would like to enroll in the International
Buddy Program, please contact Eniola Olowofoyeku to
obtain an application and to schedule an interview.
The International Buddy Program is not intended to
replace the services of the International Student
Coordinator or College Advisor. If a student has
any concerns regarding visa status or class
registration, etc., he/she should be directed to the
appropriate authority. Participation in the
International Buddy Program is entirely voluntary.
Both mentor and mentee can terminate the
relationship at any time. Please contact
Dr. Harold Barber or Professor
Eniola Olowofoyeku prior to doing so. You must
be currently registered for classes to participate
as a mentee in this program. If you are not, please
notify the International Buddy Coordinator
immediately.
