HOTEL/TRAVEL

It's time to pack your bags and join the exciting world of travel and tourism, one of the fastest-growing industries in the country. Job growth in this area is expected to be faster than the average for all positions through the year 2005. Travel agents earned a median annual income of $24,200 in 1995, and 10 percent of travel industry representatives earned more than $38,400 a year. Many are offered free or highly discounted travel as a part of their jobs, so they can see the world while helping others to their destinations. Hotel managers are also among those with excellent job growth potential, with positions in economy hotels leading the list of new job opportunities. Hotel manager salaries vary greatly, but in early 1995, annual salaries for assistant hotel managers averaged nearly $40,000 a year. Annual salaries for general managers averaged about $57,000 and rose to $81,000, depending on the size and type of hotel. Often managers' families are offered lodging, meals, parking, and other services as part of bonuses. Let the College Tech Prep Program in Hospitality Management be your passport to a great future!
