RESTAURANT/FOOD & BEVERAGE

In Maryland, current employment projections indicate a nearly 40 percent increase between now and 2005. The National Restaurant Association reports that more than 60 percent of restaurant owners and managers started out in entry-level positions and moved up quickly to their current positions. Beginning manager salaries range from $22,000 to $26,000 a year with annual increases. Today's food service industry requires people who understand how to prepare and serve food safely, as well as how to plan and cook for large numbers of people. In this program you'll learn how to use commercial equipment and systems technology, perform food costing, maintain cost controls, and develop customer and employee-employer relations. So, imagine your future cookin' in the food and beverage management field!
